It not only teaches them how to play the game, but also important life lessons such as discipline, teamwork, commitment, respect and many other personal qualities. A former D1 Women's Basketball player at the University of Illinois, Eriel has been playing basketball since she was 5 years old. Basketball has allowed her to travel and play around the world. She has done personal skills training for younger girls, which has led her to coaching. She is a leader in the community to young girls and she is blessed to do it through sport. Her favorite quote to pass on to the youth; "No-one can make you feel inferior without your consent" - Eleanor Roosevelt
Growing up, Ruth's happiest moments were watching her hometown NBA team, the Golden State Warriors, with her dad, as well as traveling all over the Bay Area to compete and play basketball with her high school team and local club team. She is committed to serving her local community in Chicago by combining her passion for youth mentorship, sports, and faith.
